The Composition of A limestone Crushing Plant

Limestone is a type of sedimentary rock which means it has soft to middle hardness. The main component of limestone is CaCO3. Though the Mohs hardness of limestone is 2 to 4, the crushing strength can be up to 180Mpa.

The limestone crushing plant is mainly composed of vibrating feeder, jaw crusher, impact crusher, cone crusher, circular vibrating screen, etc. To meet the different requirements of customers’ needs, it can be equipped with sand making machines, dust removal equipment, sand washing machines, etc.


Working Process Of Limestone Crushing

The working process of limestone crushing includes feeding, primary crushing, screening, secondary crushing, and fine crushing(optional).

Feeding

The large piece of limestone is sent to the vibrating feeder through the dump truck. The vibrating feeder sends the stone evenly to the jaw crusher.

Primary crushing

The jaw crusher crushes the limestone in the first stage.

Secondary crushing

It is sent to the impact crusher through the belt conveyor for the second stage of crushing.

Screening

The materials after secondary crushing from the impact crusher enter the circular vibrating screen. The stone larger than 40mm is returned to the impact crusher through the circular vibrating screen.

Fine crushing/sand making (optional )

After the primary and secondary crushing, the limestone below 40mm is sent to the sand making machine. Finally, the finished material is classified and screened through the circular vibrating screen. The material larger than the finished product is returned to the sand making machine for re-crushing, and the finished product is transported to the final product area by the belt conveyor.

Note: When the raw material size is less than 300mm, it can be directly fed into the European version impact crusher with no use of the jaw crusher. When the material size is below 40mm, it can be crushed directly by the sand making machine without primary and secondary crushing.

Configuration of limestone crushing plant

The production line has a high degree of automation, low operating cost, low energy consumption, large production capacity, etc.

The crushing of limestone is relatively simple due to its low silicon content, low abrasiveness. Normally, a jaw crusher plus an impact crusher can complete the main job. If there’s a need for a smaller finished size, sand making machine is recommended.  

Plan A

vibrating feeder + jaw crusher + impact crusher + circular vibrating screen + conveyor belt

This is the most typical configuration for limestone crushing which contains two stages of crushing. The advantage is the large reduction ratio and easy maintenance. A disadvantage in this project is a lot of limestone powder content will be produced because of the impact force of the impact crusher.

Plan B

vibrating feeder + heavy hammer crusher + circular vibrating screen + belt conveyor

Use one heavy hammer crusher instead of a jaw crusher and impact crusher to do both the primary crushing and secondary crushing, one-time forming, which can reduce 30-40 % Of investment cost. Compared to other crushers,the repair and maintenance are simple.

Plan C

vibrating feeder + jaw crusher+ impact crusher + sand making machine + circular vibrating screen + belt conveyor

The use of sand making machine can further process the limestone to a smaller and fine degree. This plan has a high sand making rate, low wear of vulnerable parts, and good aggregate shape of the finished product.
